Since 1986, the Special Touring Car Trophy has been a fixed diary date in the German motorsport scene. What was initially ridiculed at the time developed into one of the most spectacular racing series in Germany. Soon, the fledgling series became associated with prominent wing work, powerful, wide fenders and great sound. More and more professionals stopped by at the series to compete with the ambitious amateurs. Names like Jürgen Alzen, Kurt Thiim, Roland Asch, Harald Grohs, Olaf Manthey or the GT-Masters winner from the Lausitzring Florian Stoll always like to drop in. But young up-and-coming talent also emerged from the STT. That’s how drivers such as Jürgen Hohenester or Rüdiger Julius-Bernhard made the leap to the DTC or STW.
