RAVENOL Motorsport
Since many decades, now, and with their brand name RAVENOL, the company Ravensberger Schmierstoffvertrieb GmbH has actively been involved in motor racing as technology partner and consultant in many national and international race series with different sporting orientations and in the meantime, the brand has established as constant in the motor racing world.
Already in the 1980s, the RAVENOL ally team started with a Mitsubishi Lancer Turbo in the 'Deutsche Rallye Trophäe'. In the 2004 season, RAVENOL joined the ‘Deutsche Produktionswagen Meisterschaft’ (ADAC Procar today), thus laying the foundation for the success of ‘RAVENOL Racing’. In the following year, RAVENOL contested the World Touring Car Championship, WTCC, as partner of the Ford-Hotfiel-Team, thus making its first appearance in international motor racing. Later, RAVENOL extended their involvement in touring-car racing and competed as enrolees for teams.
In rallying, RAVENOL also is involved as partner of numerous motor-racing teams and series. The rallying involvements range from national rallying to the World Rally Championship, WRC. And in the FIA World Rallycross Championship, WRX, RAVENOL are long-term partners of Volland Racing.
The sports-car and GT-racing area has been particularly popular for a long time. Here, RAVENOL again and again has been and still is involved in different series, such as the ADAC GT Masters, the Blancpain GT Series, the GT4 European Championship und the Le Mans 24h Race. Teams such as Rosberg, Young Driver Aston Martin Racing, Farnbacher Racing, C.ABT Racing or Phoenix Racing have been and/or still are RAVENOL partners.
Single-seaters symbolise the term racing car par excellence and in this special area of motor racing, RAVENOL is involved from the lowest young-driver classes to the highest categories below Formula One. For instance, RAVENOL was long-term partner of the German ATS Formula 3 Cup. In Formula 4, RAVENOL is supporting several teams, such as their long-term partner Neuhauser Racing – or their partner teams Motopark Academy and Van Amersfoort Racing. Both teams also compete in the FIA Formula 3 European Championship and RAVENOL is the official lubricant partner of the series. One of RAVENOL’s most important partners is Italy’s top team PREMA, currently the team of Mick Schumacher. The cooperation of PREMA and RAVENOL in single-seater racing began in early 2016: from the Italian and German Formula 4 series through the FIA F3 European Championship to the GP2 Series that contests its races in the F1 support programme.
In addition to the technical cooperation with the racing teams and series organisers, RAVENOL also directly cooperated with the manufacturers in the areas engine and gearbox oils. This cooperation guarantees a consistently high quality standard for the RAVENOL lubricants used in motor racing.
Furthermore, RAVENOL also is involved in amateur motorbike racing as technical supplier
Today, the extensive motor-racing involvement of RAVENOL comprises more than 100 race series worldwide.
In 2014, RAVENOL became partner of the Hockenheimring. The first corner after the home straight has been called ‘RAVENOL-Kurve’. But first of all, the cooperation is highlighted by the circuit’s new landmark, the 13 metre high ‘RAVENOL tin’ on the ‘RAVENOL Haus’, (formerly ‘Start-Ziel Haus’). It weighs 5.8 tons and features a theoretical capacity of 190,000 litres.
Since mid-2016, the Nürburgring also has got at ‘RAVENOL-Kurve’. RAVENOL is technical partner of the Nürburgring and – in addition – lubricant partner of the Nürburgring Driving Academy. Furthermore, RAVENOL also is involved as official lubricant partner of the legendary ADAC Zurich Nürburgring 24h Race held at the tradition-rich Eifel circuit.
Since June 2015, RAVENOL has been exclusive technology premium partner of Opel Motorsport for the lubricant area. This partnership comprises national and international rallying (Opel Adam) as well as touring-car racing where Opel is involved with the Opel Astra in both the TCR International Series and the ADAC TCR Germany.
Another exciting area is the cooperation with two teams in the FIA World Endurance Championship, WEC. At the pinnacle of endurance racing, the LMP1 category, RAVENOL cooperates with ByKolles Racing and British team Strakka Racing is RAVENOL’s partner in the LMP2. And the highlight on the WEC calendar remains the motor-racing classic par excellence: the Le Mans 24-Hour Race.
With the start into the 2016 season, Ravensberger Schmierstoffvertrieb GmbH became official lubricant partner of the ADAC GT Masters and the ‘Spezial Tourenwagen Trophy’ that partly is contesting its races in the popular ADAC GT Masters event package.
The AUDI Sport TT Cup also will rely of the quality lubricants ‘Made in Germany’, this year. RAVENOL is technology partner and official supplier of the sports-car series that was created by Audi in 2015.
